My current challenge – a still life painting for my mom

I was a pleaser as a child. I was polite, did well in school, followed the rules (for the most part), and made pretty pictures with my love for crayons, markers and any/all art material placed within my reach. My mother wan’t so sure how to help cultivate my abilities. However, she provided me with lots of materials to let me “go at it”!

Sydney after the rain

My 15 year old daughter and I were out walking one autumn day after a rainstorm.  The pavement was glistening and the sun in the trees had the particular glow that only presents itself in the wake of a dark, overcast sky. It was blindingly beautiful. It was a moment with my daughter that I wanted to bottle. So, eventually I made a painting of it!

Honour love always

The birth, growth and completion of a painting is ALWAYS a completely new experience. Thank God!! When the first few marks are laid down on a canvas, I may have a concept of where I’d like to take it. However, quite often I get detoured onto a much more interesting path!
